Ordered to be Reported in the Nature of a Substitute (Amended) by the Yeas and Nays: 20 - 17.
This bill renames the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin as a National Park and Preserve. It splits the area into two zones: a National Park where hunting and trapping are banned, and a National Preserve where those activities continue as before. Fishing stays the same everywhere, and tribal rights are fully protected.
If you hunt or trap near the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin, this bill could restrict your access , but how much depends entirely on a map the public can't easily see. The "National Park" label also tends to draw more visitors, which could mean more tourism dollars for nearby communities.
