This bill tells the Department of Homeland Security's intelligence office to share more information back to state, local, and tribal governments and private businesses, instead of mainly funneling intelligence upward to federal agencies. If it passes, the office must treat local partners as equal priorities and report to Congress on its progress within 180 days.
When federal agencies detect threats , like planned attacks or emerging dangers , local police and city officials often don't get that information fast enough to act on it. This bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to treat local governments as equal partners in intelligence sharing, which could help communities respond to threats more quickly.
