Received in the Senate.
This bill removes certain "less-than-lethal" weapons (devices designed to stop people without killing them, like pepper ball guns or rubber bullet launchers) from being regulated as firearms under federal law. It also removes the special taxes that currently apply to firearms for these devices. If this passes, manufacturers can make and sell these devices without following federal gun laws, and buyers can purchase them without the usual firearms restrictions.
This bill would make devices like pepper ball guns and rubber bullet launchers as easy to buy as everyday consumer products , no background checks, no licensed dealer required. That expands self-defense options for ordinary people but also removes safeguards that currently limit who can access these weapons.
