This bill would require food companies to label products that contain alpha-gal, a sugar molecule found in most mammal meats and some other animal products that causes serious allergic reactions in a growing number of people. If it passes, foods containing alpha-gal would need to be clearly listed on packaging labels, just like peanuts, milk, wheat, and other major allergens already are.
