Subcommittee Hearings Held
This bill loosens federal rules about who can keep certain big cats and dangerous wild animals. It expands the list of people and facilities that are allowed to possess these animals, removes snow leopards and clouded leopards from the banned list entirely, and lets some facilities trade these animals with foreign countries. If this passes, more types of businesses, workers, and individuals could legally keep big cats, and two leopard species would no longer be restricted under federal law.
If you live near a facility that keeps tigers, lions, or other dangerous big cats, this bill could mean more places and more people in your community are legally allowed to handle these animals , with no new safety or oversight requirements added alongside the loosened rules.
