Committee on Environment and Public Works. Hearings held.
This bill would require the EPA to let diesel truck and equipment makers turn off automatic engine slowdowns or shutdowns caused by emissions system problems when temperatures drop to freezing or below. It would also give a year-round pass from diesel exhaust fluid requirements for vehicles mainly used in very cold, far-north areas like Alaska. If this passes, diesel vehicles in cold regions could keep running at full power even when their pollution-control systems malfunction.
