Referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill changes how Medicare pays for home infusion therapy, which is when patients receive medications through an IV at home instead of in a hospital or clinic. It expands which drugs and services qualify for coverage, allows nurse practitioners and physician assistants to set up treatment plans, and adjusts payment rules so that providers get paid even when they are not physically in the patient's home during treatment. If this passes, more Medicare patients could receive IV treatments at home, and more types of providers and medications would be covered.
Medicare patients who need IV medications could get treated at home instead of traveling to hospitals or clinics, with more drugs and providers covered. This could mean fewer disruptions to daily life for older and disabled Americans managing serious infections or chronic conditions.
