Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
This bill tells the Attorney General (the top federal law enforcement official) to create or find leadership training programs for mid-level and upper-level police commanders at state, local, and tribal agencies. It sets up a system to certify these training programs and requires reports to Congress on how the effort is going. If it passes, police commanders across the country would have access to standardized, federally approved leadership training, but participation appears to be voluntary.
How well police commanders are trained to lead directly affects how officers interact with your community , from handling crises to building public trust. This bill would create the first federal standard for what good police leadership training looks like.
