Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
This bill makes it illegal to enforce any secrecy agreement that stops someone from talking about the sexual abuse of a child. If you signed a contract or settlement that says you cannot tell anyone about child sexual abuse, that secrecy rule is now worthless and cannot be used against you. This applies to agreements signed in the past, present, or future.
Thousands of child sexual abuse survivors across the country are currently bound by legal agreements that prevent them from telling anyone , including police , what happened to them. This bill would free every one of them to speak, regardless of when they signed those agreements.
