Motion to reconsider laid on the table Agreed to without objection.
This bill removes existing energy efficiency rules for federal buildings and makes it so that buildings cannot be denied "green building" certification just because they use fossil fuels like natural gas or oil. If this passes, the federal government would roll back its current standards for energy-efficient buildings and allow fossil fuel use in new and renovated federal buildings without penalty.
Federal buildings , offices, military bases, courthouses , are paid for with tax dollars, and their energy bills are too. Removing efficiency standards could mean higher long-term energy costs for taxpayers while also increasing emissions from thousands of government-owned properties.
